Journalist, Lyricist, Film Critic and Author

Johny Hoque is a journalist, lyricist and book author. He has been working in several print and online news portals in Dhaka, Bangladesh since 2001. Johny Hoque is the first entertainment journalist from Bangladesh to cover the 68th Cannes Film Festival. From 2015 to 2022, he has covered Cannes. The interest of Bangladeshi filmmakers and other journalists towards the Cannes festival increased mainly through his news contents. It has a positive impact on the film industry of Bangladesh. Many filmmakers have participated in Canneswith their movies and short films after learning about the film market of this festival by his writing. Hoque writes reviews about cinema and streaming contents. He enjoys writing about film festivals to discover various films from around the world. He also covered the 28th Busan International Film Festival from its venue in South Korea. A book on his experience about the Cannes Film Festival was published in 2019, titled “Cannes Kotha.” Apart from journalism, Hoque regularly writes lyrics. He has also written scripts for several television shows in Bangladesh.
